Try-out Must Knows

Below is a list of a few must knows for tryouts!!

REGISTER FOR PRESEASON AND TRYOUTS. IF YOU HAVE NOT REGISTERED FOR TRYOUTS YOU CANNOT TRYOUT!
• FITNESS TEST VENUE IS TBD. YOU WILL BE INFORMED ASAP. ON DAY 2 OF TRYOUTS, PLAYERS WILL CHECK-IN AT THE DESK AND RECEIVE THEIR NUMBERED PINNEY FOR THE SOCCER SESSIONS. THEY MUST BRING THE PINNEY TO EVERY SESSION.

•  When you take part in the fitness tests, your score is your score and that is how it will remain. I know most players work really hard in the summer preparing and may feel they under performed. Unfortunately, these things do happen. The fitness tests are not the defining factor to making a team. There are also 7 hours more of tryout sessions between now and Saturday evening so players have a huge chance to prove their worth between now and then.

• On Thursday, we begin the technical aspect of tryouts. The timing of tryouts on the Thursday and Friday are right after school. Arrival at the field for 2:30 is a MUST for a 2:45 start. If you are not there by 2:30 you are considered LATE. The Saturday session is from 10-12pm and 5-7pm but that does not mean show up at 10. Try to be there 20-30 minutes prior to the session for warm ups.

• NO Parent will be able to stay and watch any sessions (Fitness or ball related sessions). ALL Tryouts provide enough pressure on these kids so we try to eliminate as much of that as possible.

• If your Daughter has sat out of any prior sessions due to injury, we require you to bring a doctor’s note to the trainer’s office before the session begins. If you have not seen a doctor, I advise you to see the trainer before the tryout so you can be cleared. Monitoring injuries is hugely important and I will not allow people to try out without going through the correct protocol.

• If you have not passed or ran the Man United test or the 300s – there will NOT be another opportunity to do so during the tryout days. The only other time you will be able to do it is if you make one of the teams.

ONCE YOU HAVE MADE A TEAM WITHOUT PASSING THE FITNESS TESTS YOU WILL RUN THE TEST WITH A COACH EVERYDAY UNTIL YOU PASS. YOU CANNOT GET YOUR UNIFORM OR PLAY IN GAMES UNTIL YOU PASS THE FITNESS REQUIREMENTS.

• This year we are limiting rosters and being strict on who makes each team. Varsity will take a maximum of 24 players, Junior Varsity will take 18 – 22 depending on the level and quality of team and Freshman will take 18 – 22 depending on quality of the team.

• Understanding the process is important. This is not club soccer and I do not care who you play for or how often you have played for the club. This is a fresh tryout and you will be judged on this. Everybody’s aim is to make Varsity but please know that there are many variables in this process.  Please note: Cuts do happen and are not easy for anyone, information on how the cutting process will work is as follows:

*CUTS TAKE PLACE AFTER THE SATURDAY MORNING SESSION – THAT GIVES EVERY PLAYER 2 FITNESS SESSIONS PLUS 7 HOURS OF SOCCER SESSIONS TO IMPRESS THE COACHES.

• RETURNING PLAYERS WILL BE POSTED ON THE WEBSITE BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 1PM-2PM (SATURDAY AUGUST 31ST). IF YOUR PLAYERS NAME IS NOT ON THE LIST, YOU WILL NOT RETURN FOR THE EVENING SESSION.

• IF YOU DIDN’T MAKE THE CUT YOU WILL RECEIVE FEEDBACK AFTER WE CONCLUDE TRYOUTS – MONDAY 2ND SEPTEMBER VIA EMAIL.

Please be sure to register for Preseason & Tryouts. These weeks leading up to preseason and tryouts are as important as the season. Make sure you are prepared! All the information is he
