Staples Girls Soccer Booster Club

Since the Staples Girls Soccer Booster Club was formed in 2008, the Staples girls’ varsity team has had two of its most successful seasons. The Lady Wreckers qualified for the FCIAC Tournament and the State Tournament in 2008 for the first time in over a decade, and repeated the feat in 2009. Staples finished the 2009 campaign with a 9-8-1 record before falling to eventual State Champion, Glastonbury, in the second round of the Class LL State Tournament. The 2010 Lady Wreckers return nine starters, and with new Head Coach, Nikki Ross, the girls are looking forward to an even more successful season this fall. The ongoing support of the Booster Club is critical to the continued success of the Staples girls soccer program!

In addition to their success at Staples, recent Staples alumni have gone on to play NCAA soccer at Gettysburg College, Brandeis University, Connecticut College, Trinity College, Tufts University, Brandeis University and Fairfield University.

The mission of the Staples Girls Soccer Booster Club is to provide support to the girls soccer program at Staples High School. Staples does not charge a participation fee for athletics, therefore, Staples Girls Soccer relies on the Booster Club to provide funds for needs not covered by the school budget, The Booster Club benefits the Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity teams. This year, we are encouraging all families of Staples girls’ soccer players to directly support the team by joining the Booster Club at one of the levels listed below. We also have a “Friends of Staples Girls Soccer” level for alumni, friends and fans who would like to support the program.

In its first two years, the Booster Club actively supported the girls’ soccer teams at Staples in the following ways:

The Booster Club paid for:

• A portion of the Assistant Varsity coach’s salary
• Tryout jerseys and practice jerseys for the Freshman, JV and Varsity teams;
• Colored practice pinnies for the Freshman, JV and Varsity teams;
• Filming Freshman, JV and Varsity games;
• Coaching Seminars for the Staples coaching staff;
• Sponsoring all players at the end of season banquet;
• Gifts for all departing seniors;
• Senior Day refreshments and decorations;
• Various goods and services for players experiencing financial hardship

In addition, the Booster Club provided the following administrative and general support:

• Organized preseason practices run by NOGA;
• Designed and maintained the program Website;
• Organized Alumni Game and alumni outreach;

The Booster Club’s goal is to enhance the girls soccer program at Staples in as many ways as possible and to help the girls succeed on and off the field. We can maximize the benefit to the soccer program at Staples with 100% participation.
